Trent Reznor: "New NIN Material in 2010"

Nothing can stop Trent Reznor from making music, not even the Nine Inch Nails frontman himself.
After retiring his career as a live musician with a farewell tour this past summer, then retreating even further to settle down and marry in October, the muscular alt-rocker is already getting a little restless, surfacing to promise fans a new album in 2010!

In a post to his band's website, Reznor announced his return in the new year. "2010 has a number of things planned including new material from Nine Inch Nails and something else that isn't Nine Inch Nails," he wrote. "I am in a state of rediscovery and reinvention that feels unfamiliar, unsure and exactly what I need."
Ohhh, exciting! And mysterious! While Reznor didn't provide more details about the new NIN material, the "something else" he refers to could be a project with synth-pop pioneer Gary Numan.
The "Cars" singer joined NIN onstage during their farewell tour, and even told Quietus that he and Reznor planned to hit the studio after the "dust settles" from the rocker's marriage. "It'll either be later this year or early next," Numan said. "It'll be cool." Indeed!
But the promise of new material isn't the only Christmas present Reznor has for fans. He closed his post with new HD video footage of NIN performing live at "miscellaneous performances from 2009." Watch "Last," filmed live in New Jersey June 6, below.
And there's more! Reznor also took to his Twitter account over the holiday break to write, "Nine Inch Nails fans kick ass. Blown away," alongside a link to a collaborative concert video that the NIN crew made with their fans. Titled Another Version of the Truth: The Gift, the video was filmed during three concerts on the band's Lights in the Sky tour in 2008 with plans for a major release. But after a disagreement with NIN's label, the raw footage was made available to fans for editing. The finished product is available as a free download at This One is On Us.

I can think of a hundred artists that would disrespect all of you, your loved ones, heroes and belief systems, with no essence or creativity calling themselves artists while stealing other artists voices, ideas, music etc, while they steal your money, sound like crap in concert all the while singing about f_ck_ng your mom in the ass...
Come on we are all assh_l_s... Trent is a musical genious worthy of the title Artist.I read alot of reviews slamming the YEAR ZERO album and it was a lil weird but with all the tracks broken down the NIN REMIXS WEBSITE is loaded with more music from all kinds of fans from all over the world daily in numbers that would blow your minds giving you enough FREE music to last you for years.

After reading all the comments, the bottom line is that whether you are famous or a "civilian", no on is perfect.
Everyone has done/does things that are not right at some point or another in their lives.
When you are a well known public figure, your going to get more flack for your flub ups. That's just a reality that some don't seem to handle very well at times. ;)
(And why I'm grateful NOT to be famous.) ;)
I do not agree with everything that TR has done/supports/behaves at times, but I am a fan of the music and appreciate it for what it is. :)

Yeah, Trent doesn't care about his fans.
Gives away an album for free and in a fedility that impresses even audiophiles.
Gives away another for next to free with insanely good benefits.
Keeps in touch with them directly.
Ensures that an insanely expensive concert to put on (I'm referring to LITS, 2008) has ticket prices that don't exceed $50 - for the BEST spot in the houes.
Takes advantage of his fanship to raise awareness and money for a good cause while at the same time affording fans the opportunity to meet the band - simultaneously being officially recognized and honored by members of multiple state senate committees.
Leaks 400GB of raw footage to give to fans for their own devices after a deal for a live concert movie didn't pan out.
Leaks long-awaited, old live DVD after years of the official release being stuck in legal turmoil.But nope, doesn't care about his fans.
Oh, and Trent was not exaggerating about the people he was talking **** to. They aren't "fans." They are horrible individuals. I've met them. Trust me. And if you take the "suicide instructions" as anything but blatant sarcasm, you're an idiot.

I'm sorry, but having been a fan of Reznor and NIN for more years than I care to admit, I think that they were way more interesting and creative in the mid-nineties. Reznor's antics over the past year have really turned me off, and while I can still appreciate the music apart from him, it's just not the same.

Good post AdRock. I'm also still a NIN fan but I don't condone Trent's behavior of the past six months. And I don't make excuses for his behavior like a lot of his defenders. Like you said, he can dish it out but when someone criticizes him he wants to take his ball and run home.

I think the issue people have with Reznor's Twitter Attidude is- He LOVES to talk trash about other people. His unwarranted "attack" on Chris Cornell for example. Okay, he was expressing his opinion. Well, so are the people that choose to dislike decisions he makes. Exercising their right to an opinion. I'm a huge NIN fan, but I don't let that "blind me". He can be a pompous prick online (even he'll admit as much). Self Righteous & very over-critical (unnecessarily) of others, yet when HE get's criticized for what he see's as "no reason", he wants to "take his ball and go home". That's my only issue with him. Is he can "dish" but he can't take it. If you don't want people to **** talk you, then maybe you should stop **** talking others. Karma works in way's like that lol. Even the biggest die-hard NIN fan (SHOULD) be able to admit that he can dish & does, whenever he wants, but he certainly can't take it...

Trent Reznor is an asshole. He called random people on twitter pigs and prostitutes. SO what if people insult other people on twitter? Trent Reznor is a public figure- he's not just anyone, and he had 650,000. Of course people you don't know are going to say things about you you don't like- it's part of being in the public eye. if you don't like it, don't be a celebrity. Even us regular folk get insulted in real life and on twitter. Take the high road and suck it up.
Instead, Trent is a wuss and insults women by calling them "plump and unattractive." He tells fans how to commit suicide. At least the world is seeing him now for who he really is- a lunatic

A musician who "likes" their fans, do not tell them how to slit their wrist, or call them plump, or picks childish fights on Twitter with much more talented musicians. Really, you need to get off of CULT.COM and explore reality. I wish you all the best.

This is outstanding, with so many bad bands like Kings of Leon and Green Day getting all the coverage, its great hearing that Trent is still pressing forward and making music. NIN is one of the few "bands" who I truly respect as an artist, and can not wait to listen to the new material. Trent you are the man. Calleb Followill is not.
